The following items discuss the
most recent changes found in this version of Eagle Point software.
Please note that the following sections are organized
alphabetically, by module, starting with System level changes
followed by enhancements and bug fixes.
System
- AutoCAD 2008 is now a supported CAD engine. AutoCAD 200x
users upgrading to AutoCAD 2008 only need to run the Configure CAD Engine
from the Eagle Point Administrator Program to "point" to the
AutoCAD 2008 acad.exe file. The 2007 7.2.0 CD also contains AutoCAD 2008
as a supported CAD engine during installation. If AutoCAD 2008 is the
only version of AutoCAD that is installed on the workstation and there is
no previous version of Eagle Point installed, you will need the 2007 7.2.0
CD.
- AutoCAD Map 3D 2008 is now a supported CAD engine.
AutoCAD Map users upgrading to AutoCAD Map 3D 2008 only need to run the
Configure CAD Engine from the Eagle Point Administrator Program to
"point" to the AutoCAD Map 3D 2008 acad.exe file. The 2007 7.2.0
CD also contains AutoCAD Map 3D 2008 as a supported CAD engine during
installation. If AutoCAD Map 3D 2008 is the only version of AutoCAD Map
installed on the workstation and there is no previous version of Eagle
Point installed, you will need the 2007 7.2.0 CD.
- AutoCAD 14 is not supported beginning with Eagle Point
7.2.0.
- Windows Vista: Eagle Point and the Eagle Point Network
License Manager is now compatible with the
32-bit version of Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate,
Business, and Enterprise. When upgrading your operating system to Windows
Vista, it is recommended that you first uninstall Eagle Point and then
reinstall. This is recommended because the folder structure for users has
changed from Windows XP to Windows Vista.
Notes:
- The Download from Collector and Upload to Collector commands within Data
Collection are not fully supported in Windows Vista. Within the download
command, the SMI - Coordinate, SMI - SDMS, SMI - SDR2x, TDS Coordinate and
TDS Raw formats are supported. Within the upload command, the SMI Coordinate
and TDS Coordinate formats are supported.
- Embedded CAD Menus: The location for the embedded CAD menus has been
changed from the Program folder to the Support\CADMenus\ folder. These
files will be automatically copied to the new location.
- Default installation paths have changed for Support, Images and
Tutorial. Support has been change to "c:\users\Public\Application
Data\Eagle Point Software\EGPT\Support\",
Images has changed to "c:\users\Public\Application
Data\Eagle Point Software\EGPT\Images\"
and Tutorial has changed to "c:\users\Public\Documents\Eagle
Point Software\EGPT\Tutorial\".
- The
Help files are now complied HTML help files (*.CHM) instead of help files
(*.HLP). The existing help files will not be removed from your workstation
when you install over an existing version of Eagle Point.
- The access to some programs has changed. Eagle Point (EGPT.EXE) will not
allow you to access files in restricted locations. It considers you as a
user and will not elevate your permissions to an administrator even if you
are an administrator.
- The Network License Manager (EPNLM.EXE), Eagle Point
Network License Checkout (EPCHECK.EXE) and Eagle Point Administrator
Program (EPADMIN.EXE) require administrator permissions to run. If you are
an administrator, you will be informed
that you are accessing a program that will utilize your administrator
rights. If you are
not an administrator, you will be asked to log in as an administrator to
run the program.
It is not recommended to run the Eagle Point
Administrator program (EPADMIN.EXE) by logging in as an administrator
since you will be making changes for the administrator and not the user.
Therefore, if you need to make changes to the configuration of Eagle Point, it is
recommended that you first increase the users rights to an administrator, make
the proper changes, and then change the users rights back down to a user
level.
- Process Library: The Coordinate command was added to the Eagle Point Commands
Table in Drafting - Create Tables menu. This allows you to run the Create Coordinate Table command from a step in the Process Library.
- Advanced Irrigation - Tools (AutoCAD Only): The Tools menu has now been added to the Embedded CAD Menus. If you have previously used the Embedded CAD for Advanced Irrigation, you will need to delete the following files from the Eagle Point program folder (c:\program files\eagle point software\egpt\program) before the Tools menu will appear. EGPT_AI.MNS, EGPT_AI.MNR, EGPT_AI.MNC,
EGPT_AI.CUI. You may also need to remove these files from the new menu
location of \Support\CADMenus\.
- Preview Objects: The Constant Shading and Hidden Surface Removal View Types now display the objects correctly when they are selected. These view types are found on the View Tab in the Display Settings dialog box.
- Preview Objects: Mouse wheel functionality has been implemented in the preview window. To zoom in, move the wheel away from you. To zoom out, move the wheel towards you. To Pan, press and hold the wheel and move your mouse in the direction you want the preview to move. To Tilt the preview (XY Plane Angle), hold down the Shift key and move the wheel. To Twist the preview (X-Axis Angle), hold down the CTRL key and move the wheel. To Tilt and Twist the preview at the same time, hold down the Shift and CTRL keys and move the mouse. The Preview Objects command can be found in various products such as Advanced Irrigation, Data Collection, Data Transfer, Intersection Design, Site Analysis and Surface Modeling.
Data Collection
- Reduce Job (MicroStatation XM Only): Linework would not be placed on named levels when reducing a job. This problem has been corrected.
Data Transfer
- Import/Export LandXML: The Import LandXML now supports the 1.1 LandXML
schema. The Export LandXML command now exports the LandXML file as a 1.1
schema version.
Drafting
- Write Legal Description: You now have the ability to select whether you want a hard return or carriage return between courses. This new option was added to the General Tab in the Legal Description Settings dialog box.
- Write Legal Description: A option for Non-Tangent Curves has been added to the Curves Tab in the Legal Description Settings dialog box. This allows you to customize the wording for Non-tangent curves. You can select to write the radial line direction and the tangent in and tangent out directions.
- Write Legal Description: A option for Compound and Reverse Curves has been added to the Curves Tab in the Legal Description Settings dialog box. This allows you to customize the wording for compound and reverse curves.
Profiles
- Profile Coordinate System: The active Profile Coordinate System (PCS) is now saved for each user. This prevents the PCS from being switched when multiple users are working in the same project.
- Annotate Inlet/Manhole (MicroStation only): Eagle Point no longer locks up when you close the Annotate Inlet/Manhole dialog box while you are still being prompted "Identify element".
RoadCalc
- Dynamic Input: The Dynamic Input command has been added to the Edit
Profile Data dialog box. This command provides a more flexible and efficient
tool to construct or modify a profile. It displays Station, Elevation, Delta
Station, Delta Elevation, % Grade and Distance. For more information on the
Dynamic Input command watch the supplied Dynamic
Input Video.
- Manage Alignments: When you create a copy of an alignment that is not defined, CAD settings
were not written for the new alignment. This would cause Eagle Point to crash when viewing the CAD Settings. This problem has been resolved.
- View Profile Graphics: If your project description is more than 80 characters, Eagle Point could crash when viewing your profile graphics. This problem has been resolved.
- View Profile Graphics (MicroStation XM only): When a Storm or Sanitary Sewer Reach is referenced in the profile graphics, MicroStation would crash when the profile drawing is viewed. This problem has been resolved.
- Construction Typical Sections (MicroStation XM only): When running the Show Typical Section command, the lowest surface did not display the correct CAD properties. This problem has been fixed.
- Adjust Plan and Profile Sheets (MicroStation XM only): When a reference file was attached to your plan or profile drawing, Eagle Point would crash when you adjusted your Plan and Profile Sheets. This problem has been addressed.
Sanitary Sewers
- Plan and Profile Sheets (MicroStation V8, XM only): Some of the CAD Settings did not allow level names to be entered. Only numbers were saved. This problem has been resolved.
Site Design
- 3-D Offset (MicroStation only): Eagle Point no longer locks up when you close the 3-D Offset dialog box while you are still being prompted "Identify element".
- Project Slopes to Surface Model: Projecting to a constant elevation would occasionally produce a catchline that would not be the exact elevation specified. This problem has been resolved.
- Project Slopes to Offset (MicroStation only): If the object you select to project to was a shape with 4 sides, the command would not work. Line strings and complex chains with 4 sides would work. This problem has been corrected to allow for 4 sided shapes.
Storm Sewers
- Plan and Profile Sheets (MicroStation V8, XM only): Some of the CAD Settings did not allow level names to be entered. Only numbers were saved. This problem has been resolved.
Surface Modeling
- Triangulate Surface Model (MicroStation XM only): When the Display Model option was toggled on when creating a surface model, it took a long time to draw the triangles. The speed to draw the triangles has been greatly increased.
- Place Shadow Grid (MicroStation XM only): The speed to draw the shadow grid squares has been greatly increased.
The following items discuss the
most recent changes found in this version of Eagle Point software.
Please note that the following sections are organized
alphabetically, by module, starting with System level changes
followed by enhancements and bug fixes.
Administrator Program
- Convert Previous Installation: Attribute styles from version 13/14 of Eagle Point are now converted correctly.
System
- Crash Reporting: If Eagle Point crashes, an Eagle Point
Error Report dialog box
displays allowing you to send the error report. The Error Report allows
you to enter a description of what you were doing when the crash occurred
to Eagle Point. It also allows you to enter in contact information. The
description and contact information is not required, however, it may
provide important information need to resolve the issue. The error report
will also be stored in your %temp%\Eagle Point Software\Exception folder.
This allows you send the file to Eagle Point support personnel to help
resolve a problem. This file is the same file that is sent to Eagle Point
when you click on the Send button. The information that is stored in the
error report includes the following:
- Description
- User
- Company Name
- Email Address
- Phone Number
- Eagle Point Version
- Eagle Point Command
- Operating System
- CAD version
Advanced Irrigation
- Water Usage Report: When exporting the water usage report to excel (*.xls) or comma separated file (*.csv) with a path and file name exceeding 64 characters, the file would not be created. This problem has been resolved.
ColorFast
- Create ColorFast Drawing: The ColorFast drawing is now created when
using international versions of AutoCAD (e.g.Italian).
Landscape Design
- Edge Stipple (AutoCAD 2007 only): When running the Edge Stipple command in AutoCAD 2007, the command would crash if the Eagle Point hatch
patterns were not added to the acad.pat and acadiso.pat files. This problem has been resolved.
- Plant Table: When exporting the plant table to excel (*.xls) or comma separated file (*.csv) with a path and file name exceeding 64 characters, the file would not be created. This problem has been resolved.
Profiles
- Draw Pipe: When using an Input type of "Station, Slope",
"Delta Station, Slope" or "Delta Elevation, Slope",
you are now able to enter Unit/Unit Slopes. Previously, these edit fields
were disabled when the Unit/Unit was selected for the Type of slope.
Quantity Take-off
- Export Bill of Material: The default file name to export is now the name of the project drawing instead of the project description. This prevents
a file with illegal characters from being created.
- Export Bill of Materials: When exporting the bill of materials to excel (*.xls) or comma separated file (*.csv) with a path and file name exceeding 64 characters, the file would not be created. This problem has been resolved.
RoadCalc
- New Horizontal Speed Parameter: When entering a new parameter for a new speed, the default values for Da and Radius are no longer 0 (zero). This change was made to prevent Eagle Point from crashing when you tabbed through the Da field without changing the value from 0 (zero).
- Run Design: When using option superelevation (-2) with only one design surface, Eagle Point would crash. This problem has been resolved.
- Run Design: When you Run Design and you do not have an Original Surface, Eagle Point would crash. This problem has been addressed.
- New Sub-project Prototype: Several setting have been added to RoadCalc sub-project prototypes. The new settings include horizontal speed table information, CAD Settings for 3D Faces, Breakline from PT Codes, Catchlines and Profile from PT Codes, Volume column widths, and Pay Units.
Sanitary Sewers
- Calculate: When using forcemains in the network, the outflow of the pipe would be set to the flow capacity for the pump in a day. This has been corrected so the outflow
of the pipe is only the amount
within the network the pump needs to force.
- Plan and Profile Sheets: When creating reaches that contain forcemains, the depth of the junction occasionally displayed incorrectly. This problem has been resolved.
- Plan and Profile Sheets: When creating reaches from right to left, the invert elevation
was displayed on the wrong side of the junction. The program has been changed to have the invert elevations on the correct side of the junction.
- Plan and Profile Sheets: The Sheet Border now displays in the Edit Plan and Profile CAD Settings dialog box. This was
inadvertently removed from the list.
Storm Sewers
- Plan and Profile Sheets: When creating reaches from right to left, the invert elevation
was displayed on the wrong side of the junction. The program has been changed to have the invert elevations on the correct side of the junction.
Watershed Modeling
- Edit Culvert: Culverts that were partially submerged because the tailwater elevation did not produce the correct discharge. This problem has been resolved.
Water Surface Profiling
- Manage Alignments: Water Surface Profiling now correctly handles more than 100 cross section alignments. Previously, cross sections after 99 would contain the same cross section name and station value of the 99th cross section.
- Annotate Cross-Sections: When the station value can't be determined for the cross-section, the annotation was not placed for any cross-sections. This problem has been corrected.
- Export to HEC-RAS: Cross sections that do not contain any shot data are now filtered out of
the GIS file when it is created. This was done to prevent Eagle Point from crashing.
