What's Changed in Eagle Point for 5.4.0

The following items discuss the most recent changes found in this version of Eagle Point software. Please note that the following sections are organized alphabetically, by module, starting with System level changes followed by enhancements and bug fixes.

System

Network License Manager: The Network License Manager has been updated. The 2005 5.4.0 version requires you to obtain new license codes in order to run the network version of Eagle Point. The Network License Manager must be installed on a Windows based server with IP Protocol. The latest Network License Manager has many improvements aimed at making technology administrators' jobs easier, ensuring license usage compliance and providing flexibility in offering licenses to off-line users with the Checkout Module. The latest version of the license manager allows for redundant server support and Module Usage Reports. For more information, see http://www.eaglepoint.com/products/lm/.
Checkout Module: The Checkout module provides the ability for users to check out a license for any module in their corporate network license pool, and disconnect their computer from the network and still run the Eagle Point software. In fact, users can request a license on behalf of someone who has no access to the Eagle Point Network License Manager and e-mail the license to that person for instant access to the Eagle Point modules they requested. Licenses can be held for up to 180 days so users can learn the software at home or work on projects at remote locations.
(BricsCad only) Performance issues introduced in the 5.3.0 version using various commands within Eagle Point have been resolved. Typically, this was related to commands that would place or modify many objects at one time.
(BricsCad only) "Eagle Point" now displays correctly in the title bar of the system menu.
(MicroStation J only) Using the Partial Delete command on elements containing Eagle Point Object Data no longer produces an MDL abort.

COGO

Manage Lots: The Lot list now remembers the column sizes and the sort orders when the dialog box is re-opened.
Defined Lots: The Lot list now remembers the column sizes and the sort orders when the dialog box is re-opened.
Create Lot Group: The Lot list now remembers the column sizes and the sort orders when the dialog box is re-opened.

Data Transfer

Export LandXML: The Biztalk section within the header and footer has been removed. This has been done to provide compatibility with other applications such as versions of Geopak prior to v8.5.2.35.

Drafting

Annotate Lots: The command no longer hangs up when you have the "Use Styles' Height" option toggled on for Lots in Default CAD Settings.
Annotate Lots: The Lot list now remembers the column sizes and the sort orders when the dialog box is re-opened.
Defined Lots (Write Legal Description): The Lot list now remembers the column sizes and the sort orders when the dialog box is re-opened.
Create Lot Table: The command no longer hangs when you have the "Use Style's Height" option toggled on for Lot Table in Default CAD Settings.

Irrigation Design

(BricsCad only) Equipment Table: The performance problem moving an Eagle Point table containing irrigation equipment has been resolved.

Landscape Design

(BricsCad only) Plant Table: The performance problem moving an Eagle Point table containing plant information has been resolved.

Profiles

Draw Pipe Structure to Structure: Inlets, manholes and custom structures that have previously been annotated will no longer lose the Rim Elevation and Invert Elevations when a pipe is drawn between structures.
Modify Structure: Inlets, manholes and custom structures will no longer lose the Rim Elevation and Invert Elevations when the structure is modified.
(MicroStation only) Annotate Profile: The command now annotates the entire profile when you have one or more of your annotation options set to use a cell library that is different from the cell library that is used with your Node Field Code Library.

RoadCalc

Run Design: Typical sections utilizing -2 for superelevation no longer require the Ditch PT Code of 3 on the cut typical section.
Run Design: Typical sections utilizing -2 for superelevation and a Ditch PT Code of 3 on cut typical sections maintain the correct offset relationship between -2.
(MicroStation V8 only) Create Cross-Section Sheets: The % and : symbol are now displaying on cross-section sheets for slope annotation.

Sewers

Plan and Profile Sheets: Some manholes and pipe ellipses were not properly placed at the end of a pipe in some situations. This problem has been corrected.

Surface Modeling

(BricsCad only) Place Triangles and Erases Existing Objects: Performance issues when placing triangles and erasing triangles has been resolved.

What's Changed in Eagle Point for 5.3.0

System

Autodesk Map 3D 2006 is now a supported CAD engine. Autodesk Map users upgrading to Autodesk Map 3D 2006 only need to run the Configure CAD Engine from the Eagle Point Administrator Program to "point" to the Autodesk Map 3D 2006 acad.exe file. The 2005 5.3.0 CD also contains Autodesk Map 3D 2006 as a supported CAD engine during installation. If Autodesk Map 3D 2006 is the only version of Autodesk Map installed on the workstation and there is no previous version of Eagle Point installed, you will need the 2005 5.3.0 CD.

Note: The Point and Terrain Models included with Autodesk Map 3D 2006 cannot be utilized with Eagle Point commands.

Lot Database: Lots are now being stored per project in an Access database (EPDATA.MDB) rather than only existing within the CAD drawing/design file. Moving to this file format provides a higher level of multi-user security and stability. Additionally, this allows you to have a lot defined once in the database and graphically represented in as many drawings as you wish. Each instance of the lot graphic has a link to the database and graphic modifications to the lot automatically updates the data in the database. Graphic representations of that same lot in other drawings are not automatically updated to reflect the new data. Use the Draw/Update Lot command in the Manage Lots dialog box while in the appropriate CAD drawing/design file to update the graphic representation of the lot. Graphically erasing lots from the CAD graphic using a CAD command will no longer remove the lots from the database. You will need to use the Delete Lot command on the Manage Lots dialog box to remove the lots from the database.
When a drawing within a project is opened, existing lots are converted to this new format. In order to have all lots within a project converted, you will need to open each drawing containing lots. When the lots are converted, a lot group will be created with the name of the drawing the lots were originally in. Once the database is converted, you are not allowed to view the new or changed lots in previous versions of Eagle Point (5.2.0 or less). Every machine that accesses the project data MUST be at the 5.3.0 revision level in order for all users to access the new database.

Since Lots are now project specific, duplicate lot names are allowed. This is done to accommodate the conversion of lots to the database. If you choose to use duplicate lot names, it is recommended that you use lot groups to separate the lots.

Additionally, the Compact Lot Database command has been added to the Eagle Point System menu. In order to successfully compact the lot database, you must be the only user accessing the project data. To ensure optimal performance, compact your lot database on a regular basis.
(AutoCAD Only): Launch CAD: When the Proxy Objects dialog box or the Missing Font File dialog box displayed when opening the drawing, the instance 2539 – CAD not active message occasionally displayed. This has been corrected by adding the egpt\program folder to the Support File Search Path section of the Eagle Point profile.
(AutoCAD Only): When closing AutoCAD, you would occasionally receive an unhandled exception error. This was caused when a new block definition was added to drawing when placing nodes. This problem has been corrected.
(AutoCAD Only): Embedded menus: The MNS or CUI files are now loaded instead of always loading the MNU file. This prevents any customization from being lost.
(AutoCAD 2004+ Only): The Plot command no longer repeats the word Done continuously on the command line when Background Plotting is toggled on. The command now finishes normally.
(MicroStation V8 Only): The Level Selector control in Eagle Point dialog boxes is now honoring the MS_DGNLIBLIST variable in the UCF file.
(BricsCad Only): Slide files are now delivered during the install for all Eagle Point hatch patterns. The slide files are placed into the \bricscad\patterns and \bricscad\patterns\iso folders.

Administrator

(AutoCAD Only): Configure CAD Engine: ColorFast now loads correctly when you switch from one version of AutoCAD to different version of AutoCAD.
(BricsCad Only): Configure CAD Engine: Slide files are now placed into the \bricscad\patterns and \bricscad\patterns\iso folders when switching from Eagle Point Graphics Engine or IntelliCAD 98 to BricsCad.

Advanced Irrigation

Assign Zone: Occasionally, Eagle Point would crash when assigning heads to a zone when the coverage area was being calculated. This problem has been resolved.
Locate Heads: Parameters for the irrigation heads are now set correctly even if they are not used. For example, when you place a round head, the values for length and width of a square head were set with erroneous values.

COGO

Manage Lots: There have been several changes made to the Manage Lots dialog box. First, the dialog box is now resizable so you can see as many or as little lots and their respective data as you desire. Second, an item of <Ungrouped Lots> was added to the Lot Group drop list. This allows you to quickly see any lots that have not been added to a lot group. Third, the Manage Lot Group icon was added next to the Lot Group drop list. This allows you to add, modify or delete lot groups. Finally, two new icons were added to draw or update the lots in the CAD graphic or remove the lots from the CAD graphic. The Draw/Update Lot in CAD Graphics command allows you to place the lot geometry in the current CAD graphic file. If the geometry is already in the CAD Graphic, it will be updated. When a lot is updated, any annotation for the lot will also be updated. The Erase Lot from CAD Graphics will only remove the lot geometry from the CAD Graphic (not the database). Any annotation associated with the lot will not be removed from the CAD Graphic. Use the Delete Lot command to remove the lot from the database and the CAD Graphic.
Convert to Lot: The Lot Group drop list was added to the Convert to Lot dialog box. This allows you to select an existing Lot Group to add the lot to when the lot is converted. It also contains the Manage Lot Groups icon so you can create new lot groups to associate the lot with.
Create Lot Group: The Create Lot Group dialog box is now resizable.
Defined Lots: There have been several changes made to the Defined Lots dialog box. First, the dialog box is now resizable. This allows you to see as much or as little data about the lots as you desire. Second, the PIC icon was added to the dialog box. This allows you to graphically select a lot from the CAD Graphic. This allows you to quickly select lots without having to know their names. Finally, the Lot Group drop list was added to the dialog box. This allows you to filter the lot listing based on the lot group reducing the number of lots you are looking at. Locations that the Defined Lots dialog box is used include (Modify Lot, Create Lot Group, Create Mapcheck Report, Report Area, Stakeout Boundary, Write Legal Description and Export LandXML).
(MicroStation V8 Only): Translate – Rotate – Scale: The check to make sure the elements can be placed within the design plane is no longer being performed. The design plane is still checked in MicroStation SE/J.
(AutoCAD 2004+ Only): Place Node: The pan and zoom commands are now canceled when you select the PIC button to place a node.
(AutoCAD 2004+ Only): Place Nodes by Station/Offset: The pan and zoom commands are now canceled when you select the PIC button to place a node.

ColorFast

(BricsCad Only): Create ColorFast Drawing: You will no longer receive the error message stating there is no ColorFast paper in the drawing even though you have inserted the paper into the drawing.

Data Collection

Reduce: Occasionally Eagle Point would crash after receiving the message of “Could not place all objects in CAD”. This problem has been corrected.
Reduce: Eagle Point will no longer crash when a TDS-Coordinate file contains a blank line at the top of the downloaded file.

Drafting

Annotate Lot: Several changes have been made to the Annotate Lot dialog box. First, the dialog box is now resizable. This allows you to see as much or as little data about the lots as you desire. Second, the Lot Group drop list was added to the dialog box. This allows you to filter the lot listing based on the lot group reducing the number of lots you are looking at. Last, the Update Existing Annotation button was added. This will update all lot annotation and all lot tables in the current drawing. This command is typically only needed if you have modified the lot geometry in a different drawing or you have toggled off the dynamic annotation option in the System menu.
Create Lot Table: The Create Lot Table dialog box has been change to resemble the Annotate Lot dialog box. The dialog box is now resizable. This allows you to see as much or as little data about the lots as you desire. All of the lots and their respective data are displayed on the dialog box instead of going to the Defined Lots dialog box or the Lot Groups dialog box. This allows you to see all of the lots and their respective data to make it easier to determine which lot should be placed into the lot table. The Lot Group drop list was also added to the dialog box. This allows you to filter the lot listing based on the lot group reducing the number of lots you are looking at.
Create Lot Tables: The lots within a lot table are now updated correctly when the lot in the table is removed from the database.
Create Line Tables: Line tables are no longer converted to a lot table when the lot is modified. Previously, when a lot was annotated with the lot name and also with line numbers, a modification to the lot would change the line table to a lot table.
Unlink Object: When you select a Lot to unlink, the graphic representation of the Lot is now properly unlinked from the database. The Lot geometry remains in the database, but the graphic representation is no longer associated with the database.
Write Legal Description: The Defined Lots dialog box now displays all of the lot information in the columns for each lot.
(AutoCAD 2004+ Only): Annotate Coordinates: Eagle Point no longer crashes when you close the dialog box and you are still being prompted to select a point on the AutoCAD command line.
(AutoCAD 2004+ Only): Annotate Station-Offsets: Eagle Point no longer crashes when you close the dialog box and you are still being prompted to select a point on the AutoCAD command line.
(MicroStation V8 Only): The text size of annotation that is placed no longer gets resized to a text size of zero when it is edited.

Landscape Design

Sum Lines: When your project is located in a path that is greater than 65 characters, Eagle Point no longer crashes when you print.
(BricsCad Only): Edge Stipple: The Eagle Point hatch patterns are now added to the icadiso.pat when you are in a metric project.

Profiles

Annotate Point/Grade Break: The command now shows a preview for the annotation that will be placed. Additionally, the command will automatically repeat once the annotation is placed until the command is cancelled by pressing the Enter key in AutoCAD/BricsCad or the Reset button in MicroStation.
Annotate Point/Grade Break: When annotating with a leader, the leader line now displays and rubber bands from the previous point as you are selecting points for the leader.
Annotate Point/Grade Break: A Leaders button has been added when you are annotating the Point/Grade Break with a leader. This allows you to control whether an arrowhead is placed or not, what symbol to use at the start of the leader and the tail length of the leader.
Annotate Inlet/Manhole: The rotation angle is now available for the options of Above and Below. Previously, it was only available for the Leader option.
Annotate Inlet/Manhole: A new annotation option of Custom has been added. This option allows you to control the location of each piece of annotation (Structure ID, Station, Rim Elevation, and Left and Right Invert Elevations) and how it is annotated. Additionally, the command will automatically repeat once the annotation is placed until the command is cancelled by pressing the Enter key in AutoCAD/BricsCad or the Reset button in MicroStation.

RoadCalc

Edit Cross-Section Data: When using the Query Cross-Section command, updating the graphic display of the cross-section was slow when you have several utilities in your project. This problem has been corrected.
Plan and Profile Sheets: The Plan portion is now correctly referenced into the plan viewport when the profile drawing does not exist and you create Plan and Profile Sheets.
(MicroStation V8 Only): Catchlines: The CAD Settings are now read and written correctly for this command.
(MicroStation V8 Only): Breaklines from PT Codes: The CAD Settings are now read and written correctly for this command.
(MicroStation V8 Only): Profiles from PT Codes: The CAD Settings are now read and written correctly for this command.

Sewers

Plan and Profile Sheets: When the Beginning Station of Reach was greater than what would be placed on the first Plan and Profile sheet, the datum elevations would start at zero. For example, if your sheet length is 30 inches using a plot scale of 1" = 50', the first sheet would normally contain stations 0+00 to 15+00. If the Beginning Station of Reach is not contained within this station range, the datum elevations would start at zero. This has been corrected.
Plan and Profile Sheets: The existing and proposed profile annotation is now placed in the correct location on Plan and Profile sheets. Previously, the annotation was reversed.

What's Changed in Eagle Point for 5.2.0

System

AutoCAD 2006 is now a supported CAD engine. AutoCAD 14/200x users upgrading to AutoCAD 2006 only need to run the Configure CAD Engine from the Eagle Point Administrator Program to "point" to the AutoCAD 2006 acad.exe file. The 2005 5.2.0 CD also contains AutoCAD 2006 as a supported CAD engine during installation. If AutoCAD 2006 is the only version of AutoCAD that is installed on the workstation and there is no previous version of Eagle Point installed, you will need the 2005 5.2.0 CD.
Process Library: A setting has been added to control the amount of time it takes before the Process Library will automatically hide. This setting is found in Options - Settings. The default time is set to 1 second.
Process Library: An warning dialog box now displays if an application shortcut cannot be launched from the Process Library. The contents of the application shortcut are displayed in the warning dialog box.
Process Library: The key in of "epproclib" was added to launch the Process Library command.
Text Placement: When a text style does not exist and is needed to place text, the text style will be created using the TXT font. This includes the placement of Nodes that use a text style for an attribute that is not defined in the drawing.
(AutoCAD Only) Embedded CAD Menus: You will no longer receive the "Unknown MENUGROUP:" message when you load AutoCAD and have the Embedded CAD Menus option toggled on.
(MicroStation Only) Color Tables: When a color table is selected and the path and file name exceeded 64 characters, the color table within Eagle Point commands did not show the correct colors. This problem has been corrected.
(MicroStation V8 Only) Undo: The performance when using the Undo command in MicroStation V8 has been improved.
(BricsCad Only): A message displays now displays when there is a problem loading BricsCad. This typically occurs when the drawing file that you are attempting to open was created with an incompatible version. To resolve the problem with the drawing, open the file with BricsCad first so the file is converted to a previous version. Once you have opened the file with BricsCad, you can then open it with Eagle Point.
(BricsCad Only): Undo. An undo group was added for our commands so multiple undos are not required to reverse the actions of a single command.

Administrator

(MicroStation Only) Configure CAD Engine: When you have installed a version newer than MicroStation V8.0 in the same location, the administrator would report that you do not have the correct version of MicroStation installed. This has been corrected.
(MicroStation Only) Configure CAD Engine: Switching from MicroStation J to MicroStation V8 did not always set you to MicroStation V8. This would cause an error when launching Eagle Point and MicroStation.
(BricsCad Only): Configure CAD Engine: ColorFast now loads correctly when you switch from Eagle Point Graphics Engine or IntelliCAD 98 to BricsCad.

Advanced Irrigation

(BricsCad and Eagle Point Graphics Engine Only) P.O.C. - Insert P.O.C.: The previous P.O.C. no longer is removed from the drawing when a new P.O.C. is placed. This has been resolved.
(BricsCad and Eagle Point Graphics Engine Only) Heads - Locate Single: Previous Heads placed are no longer removed from the drawing when new heads are placed. This has been resolved.
(BricsCad and Eagle Point Graphics Engine Only) Heads - Locate Single: Heads would occasionally be duplicated at other locations. This has been resolved.

COGO

Report Nodes: The Report Nodes dialog box can now be resized. The size of the dialog box as well as the size of columns is saved. Therefore, the size of the dialog box and columns will be remembered the next time that dialog is recalled.
Nodes: Alpha Numeric Nodes are now recalled correctly from the External Node Database. Previously, the prefix was filtered out and could select the wrong Nodes.
Nodes: The performance for selecting Nodes by Range when using an External Node Database has been improved.

Landscape Design

Label Symbol. When a view rotation is applied to the drawing, the text would occasionally be placed upside down. The view rotation is now correctly accounted for so the text no longer appears upside down.

Profiles

Construct - Profile from Surface Model: The option of Place Profile Grid has been added to the Construct Profile from Surface Model dialog box. This option is only available when the Place in CAD option is selected. When the Place Profile Grid is toggled on, a Grid will be constructed to encompass the profile. The grid is based on the current Construct Grid settings. The grid is sized using the Station Interval, Datum Elevation Interval and Heavy Horizontal and Vertical Grid Lines.

RoadCalc

Alignments - Edit Alignment Data: When using the speed tables to superelevate curves, the superelevation could be wrong when you have PIs with no curve data. This has been corrected.
Typical Sections - Typical Section Library: The Typical Section Library no longer allows duplicate names.
Typical Sections - Construct Typical Sections (MicroStation Only): When a typical section is mirrored, the centerline is no longer selected as an object that gets mirrored.
Typical Sections - Construct Typical Sections: When you use Precision Input and add PT Codes to some segments followed by several segments that do not contain PT Codes, an Undo no longer places the last used PT Code.
Typical Sections (MicroStation V8 Only): The Show Typical Section and Define Typical Section now use the CAD Settings for MicroStation V8 instead of the CAD settings for MicroStation V7.
Process - Manage Condition Tables - New/Modify: When you select -2 as your PT Code and then modify the condition, -26 would be selected. The correct PT Code is now selected when you modify the condition.
Process - Edit Design Locations - New/Modify Condition Locations: When you have condition tables that have similar names, the wrong condition could be displayed when you modify the Condition Location. This has been corrected so the correct Condition Location is displayed.
Process - Run Design: When using the superelevation PT Code of -22, undercut did not tie into the original ground correctly. The distance from the subgrade is now used instead of the distance from the undercut.
Process - Run Design: Using the superelevation PT Code of -2 now works correctly when the PT Code is used at the edge of a shoulder.
Output - Plan and Profile Sheets: A warning message now displays when a custom symbol can not be found. Previously, symbols and annotation could be missing from a sheet when a symbol was not found.
Output - Plan and Profile Sheets: When checking for valid CAD settings, Text items are only checked for Text CAD Settings and Geometry items are only checked for Geometry CAD Settings.

Surface Modeling

Copy Surface Model: The Globe icon has been added to the Copy Surface Model dialog box allowing you to copy a surface model from a different project. When copying a surface model from a different project, all settings associated with the surface model are also copied.

Watershed Modeling

Hydrographs - Edit Santa Barbara Urban: Selecting the Apply button after selecting the Results button did not always save the data. This typically occurred when you changed some of the Input Data for Tabular Areas. This problem has been resolved.
Routing - Edit Storage Indication: Selecting the Apply button after selecting the Results button did not always save the data. This typically occurred when you made changes to the inflow hydrograph and then used this command to generate new results. This problem has been resolved.

What's Changed in Eagle Point for 5.1.1

System

MicroStation SE/J Users only: When multiple cell libraries were used for the symbols being placed in Plan and Profile sheets created in RoadCalc, Sanitary Sewers and Storm Sewers, some symbols and annotation did not appear on the sheets. This problem has been resolved.

What's Changed in Eagle Point for 5.1.0

System

Eagle Point Graphics Engine and IntelliCAD 98 are no longer available CAD configurations within the installation and therefore cannot be selected during installation. If you have previously installed Eagle Point to operate with one of the these CAD configurations, it will continue to operate. Eagle Point products will continue to operate on these CAD engines.

The Eagle Point Graphics Engine will no longer be sold by Eagle Point and additional patches for the Graphics Engine will no longer be available. Contact Eagle Point at 1-800-678-6565 for more information.

BricsCad 5.1 is now a supported CAD engine. IntelliCAD 98 users changing to BricsCad only need to run the Configure CAD Engine from the Eagle Point Administrator Program to "point" to the BricsCad icad.exe file. Eagle Point Graphics Engine users changing to BricsCad will need to run the Configure CAD Engine from the Eagle Point Administrator Program to "point" to the BricsCad icad.exe file. You will also need to request new authorization codes for BricsCad before Eagle Point will operate with BricsCad.
Windows 98 and Windows Me will no longer be supported operating systems on the 2005 5.2.0 release. You will not be able to install from CD or apply a patch on these operating systems.
General: Eagle Point now supports the use of periods in the path name for projects. Also supported is the use of periods in the drawing/design file name.
Process Library: When a step is modified from one type to another, the icon now updates immediately instead of the next time the Process Library is opened.
Process Library: The key-in commands have been added for the Sanitary Sewers product.

Drafting

Alignment Stationing: Alignments that are not in the current drawing/design file can now be annotated. This allows you to reference in your alignment drawing/design file and place stationing annotation in the current drawing/design file. The annotation will not automatically update when an alignment is changed. However, when the alignment is annotated again, the previous annotation will be removed from the drawing/design file.

Plant Database

Print: Images that are attached to plants in the Plant Database will now display when printing using Microsoft Word 2003.

RoadCalc

Offset Controlled Superelevation: Eagle Point now supports offset controlled superelevation. Through the use of special PT codes (-22, -23, -24, -25 and -26), the superelevation limits of the typical section will hold their offsets through the typical section rotation due to super elevating. With this method the sub surfaces will remain parallel to the surface above it when the typical section is superelevated. This results in the outside slopes of the typical section being adjusted in order to maintain offsets of the typical section. This new superelevation method only applies to typical sections that have their sub surfaces extending out to the foreslopes. For additional information, click here.
Profile Settings: For profile coordinate systems set to the plan drawing, the coordinates will now update correctly when using the PIC button.
Cross Section Sheets: When the number of cross section sheet drawings/design files created did not match the number of cross section sheets in the listing, the software would not automatically fix this disparity. This problem primarily happened when the project was stored on a network drive. This issue has been resolved.
Profiles from PT Codes: When the profile coordinate system is set to the plan drawing at coordinates other than X=0 and Y=0, the Profiles from PT Codes are now placed in the correct location.
